Transport Managers Training

Our transport manager course will provide the necessary CPC certificate required when managing fleets for hire or reward and/or to apply for an Operator licence to deliver goods. This course is also available as Home Study.

In addition, we offer a DVSA Compliance and Record Keeping consultancy service to reduce the risk of roadside inspections and site visits.

Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence

All companies who wish to apply for an Operator licence to deliver goods, or for hire and reward must employ a qualified Certificate of Professional Competence transport manager.

Candidates must complete 30 modules and pass a two-part examination run by OCR (these are run 4 times per year). Our Transport Manager CPC courses are arranged around the examination dates.

To accommodate the requirements of our candidates who may find time off work difficult, we offer both classroom and home study courses as follows:

  • 4 day course at our training centre in Oldbury covering 8 of the main subjects
  • 4 weeks home study (8 live sessions),  Mondays and Wednesday  6.30 pm – 9.30 pm
  • 1 day refresher to update skills and knowledge on the latest legislation

Additional online resources will also be provided for any subject you may need additional support on. 1 to 1 live sessions can be arranged with prior agreement at an extra fee.

DVSA Compliance and Record Keeping

If you’re a vehicle operator, your drivers might be stopped at the roadside by the police or the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) for vehicle inspections and it’s more likely that your vehicles will be inspected if your OCRS (Operator Compliance Risk Score) is high.

The DVSA can also visit your site and are likely to do so if you are a new operator, have had a failed roadside inspection, have had degradation in your OCRS or an increase in MOT failures.

If you are at risk of a DVSA visit then it’s crucial to your business to ensure your necessary systems and procedures are in place that DVSA auditors will expect to see; our DVSA compliance consultancy service is there to ensure this is the case. We will make an assessment of your current compliance level and make recommendations of any action needed to improve where necessary to ensure you have the necessary systems.

To find out more and reduce your risk of increased roadside inspections and site visits, call us now on 0121 552 6806.

(OCRS is used to calculate the risk of an operator not following the rules on roadworthiness (the condition of its vehicles) and traffic, eg drivers’ hours, weighing checks.)
